The “average home” inspection is $400. By average I mean a home between 1200 and 2000 square feet, and built within the last 20 years.

Obviously a larger home costs more. There is simply more ground to cover, and some larger homes may have two furnaces or water heaters, or other specialized systems. Smaller homes will be less.

Older homes usually require more time. As a home ages there are more maintenance issues, or possible periods of neglect, and older homes also have had modifications based on construction standards that have changed over time.
